Apparently, some people think that $83,000 just isn’t enough money to spend on a new Escalade. That’s the sticker on the Platinum edition of the big Caddy SUV

Click above for a gallery of still images from Honda’s Let it Shine ad Honda’s early advertising for the new Insight is highlighting the hybrid hatchback’s low price, which is a few thousand dollars less than the Toyota Prius, its main competition. There’s more to the Insight equation, of course, than just its attractive price point, and the Japanese automaker is keen to play up the new car’s green credentials in upcoming television spots all around the world. One of these new videos is called “Let it Shine,” and this piece will open with what appears to be a huge LED screen that’s displaying a sequence of images that are intended to make the watcher think happy thoughts, such as hugs and kisses, frowns turning upside down and “general goodwill.” Sounds positively Disney-esque

Click above for a high res gallery of the 2011 Chevy Volt During the recent conference call detailing the updates on the Chevy Volt , Executive Director of Global Engineering Bob Kruse said something that deserves to be highlighted: the price of the Volt will, in part, be determined by the cost of gas in November 2010, when the car is scheduled to go on sale. Here’s the exact quote: I will tell you though that $1.50 a gallon gasoline is not necessarily helping with the business case, but who knows what the cost of petroleum is going to be in the future. Katsuaki Watanabe, current president at Toyota Motors, has confirmed the rumors we’ve been hearing for the last few weeks that the automaker plans to continue selling the current version of the Prius alongside its newer 2010 sibling in Japan. The current 2009 Prius will continue on unchanged, as far as we’re aware, but will see its price reduced by a few million yen to match that of the new Honda Insight . We’d heard that this dual-Prius plan won’t be echoed in the United States, and now Toyota has confirmed that it won’t happen in Europe either.

With China assuming the mantle of the world’s largest automotive market, China’s domestic auto shows gain more importance as its products are increasingly being sold internationally. The Shanghai Auto Show opening on the 22nd of April is no exception and one of the reveals we’ll be looking for is a new electric model by Brilliance Auto . Not a lot of details are known about the vehicle except that it is smaller than its popular Junjie ( introduced to us as the BS4 ), but offers more power and is, no surprise, “more fuel efficient.” We can only hope they can figure out how to get it to pass a crash test
