Filed under: EV/Plug-in , Nissan Nissan is ready to duplicate the success of its all-electric Leaf with its zero-emissions e- NV200 electric compact van, and the company is on schedule to start selling it to the public next year. The Japanese automaker is now in the “final development phase” for the e-NV200 after trying it out with various commercial companies since 2011. Nissan is also speeding up work on its e-NT400 electric light truck, which the company says has an 87-mile single-charge range.

Filed under: EV/Plug-in , Nissan , UK The trial of Nissan’s NV200 EV prototype by Japan Post last summer must have had some amount of success as the all-electric van is now poised to take on the streets of London, England. This time around, it will be rocking the colors of the courier FedEx as it begins a two-month stint of package schlepping. Performance specs for the prototype have not been released, but since it does use the same 80-kW motor and 24-kWh battery drivetrain as the Nissan Leaf , it likely puts up slightly lower acceleration and range numbers than the consumer hatchback

Suzuki has reportedly manufactured 13 of the electrified vans, which will be handed out to its dealerships in Japan on a trial basis. This, according to Integrity Exports , will allow Suzuki to test out its electrified people-moving machine ahead of the automaker’s launch of a mass-produced battery-powered vehicle.

For the first phase of testing, the Japan Post Service will use one battery-powered NV200 for postal collection and delivery tasks for approximately two months in the city of Yokohama, Japan. The goal of the initial phase is to evaluate the vehicle’s capabilities in real-world conditions
