DC 2011: Ford Focus Electric wins Green Car Vision award thumbnail

Filed under: EV/Plug-in , Ford , Washington DC Auto Show Well, we knew it was going to be an electric car that would drive away with the Green Car Journal ‘s Green Car Vision Award for 2011, we just didn’t know which one. At the Washington Auto Show today, the Green Car Journal announced that the Ford Focus Electric won the title, which is given to a vehicle that vehicle “best envisions the future of transportation” but is not yet available in production form. The other finalists this year were the Honda Fit EV , the Mitsubishi i electric vehicle , the Toyota RAV4 EV and the Volvo C30 DRIVe

Filed under: EV/Plug-in , Ford , Honda , Mitsubishi , Toyota , Volvo , Washington DC Auto Show The 2010 Green Car Vision Award winner, the Nissan Leaf – Click above for high-res image gallery The Washington Auto Show is known for its focus on policy, but it is also the site of the annual Green Car Vision Awards, the future counterpoint to Green Car Journal ‘s Green Car Vision Award. The 2011 finalists were announced today, and the list includes: Ford Focus Electric Honda Fit EV Mitsubishi i electric vehicle Toyota RAV4 EV Volvo C30 DRIVe One thing to note is that all five of this year’s finalists are pure electric vehicles. EVs have been on the list before – the Focus BEV makes a second appearance on the finalists list and the Mitsubishi i was previously represented by the i-MiEV in 2009 – but they’ve always shared the list with fuel cell or vehicles with a partial gas powertrain (i.e., the Chevy Volt )

Five EVs, one hydrogen car, one PHEV named as finalists for 2010 Green Car Vision Award thumbnail

Filed under: EV/Plug-in , Hydrogen , Washington DC Auto Show Audi A3 TDI – Click above for high-res image gallery The Audi A3 TDI was named Green Car Journal ‘s 2010 Green Car of the Year yesterday , and the magazine is already looking ahead to next month, when the Green Car Vision Award will be announced at the Washington Auto Show at the end of January. The five finalists for this award, given to cars that aren’t available yet but show a lot of eco-promise, include the Nissan Leaf, Coda Automotive’s electric sedan, the Ford Focus BEV, the Mercedes-Benz F-Cell and Toyota’s plug-in Prius. That’s a pretty good selection, considering that some other suitable candidates were named as finalists last year, when the winner was the Chevy Volt (the others were: Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Honda FCX Clarity, Fisker Karma and MINI E).
