SUVs, not eco cars, given big ad presence online

According to a new study by comScore, auto companies “delivered” over six times as many online SUV display ads in January 2009 as they did for “Fuel-Efficient/Hybrid models” (I’m not sure which category a vehicle like the Tahoe hybrid would fit into this categorization). The numbers: 65 million deliveries for SUVs vs.

Here’s the exact quote: I will tell you though that $1.50 a gallon gasoline is not necessarily helping with the business case, but who knows what the cost of petroleum is going to be in the future. I’ve been asked what’s the Volt going to cost in November, 2010 or what’s the price going to be?

Amsterdam wants to be all-electric by 2040

You might think that Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, couldn’t be a more environmentally friendly city. Today, it’s a city that has an incredibly high ratio of bike use in Europe and lots of canals, and seems to be almost car-free.

Toyota confirms only one Prius for Europe

Katsuaki Watanabe, current president at Toyota Motors, has confirmed the rumors we’ve been hearing for the last few weeks that the automaker plans to continue selling the current version of the Prius alongside its newer 2010 sibling in Japan. The current 2009 Prius will continue on unchanged, as far as we’re aware, but will see its price reduced by a few million yen to match that of the new Honda Insight . We’d heard that this dual-Prius plan won’t be echoed in the United States, and now Toyota has confirmed that it won’t happen in Europe either.

Officially, Official: 2010 Volkswagen Golf GTD revealed in Leipzig

The new hot diesel hatch revives a designation that originally appeared in 1982 but hasn’t been seen in two decades.
